Treatment intro 30/09/12

INT. Ouside house. Early-morning hours

We are presented as someone’s POINT OF VIEW stumbling as they reach the door, Vision is moving left and right and seems very blurry. Opens the door knob very slowly as the character tries not to lose their balance. A CLOCK reads ten to five. Pictures presenting a mother, father and a daughter and continues on by presenting only the mother and daughter. A SNAPSHOT of vodka and jack Daniels crowding around the bed, and snap shots of wardrobes pouring out teared clothes and posters presenting hearts being torned.AN ECHO OF A VOICE reaching to the characters ear constantly drowning her sight to suddenly collapse on a bed.

Life swap - Updated treatment 30/09/12

The film opens with the main character a girl of about 14 named Sarah stumbling through her front door and up the stairs and into her room drunk, with the sound of her mother shouting her dissaproval at her daughter's behaviour still echoing up the stairs. Sarah falls onto her bed and immediately passes out. As she comes back around, she sees another version of herself, sat at the end of her bed, staring at her. Sarah A, as expected, first begins to question the girl (e.g. 'Who are you? How did you get in here?'), to which she is answered with silence. The girl then explains that she is Sarah's other self, the side that she never expresses anymore, the real her. Sarah B then explains that Sarah A is in fact still unconscious but is about to die of alcohol poisoning, and that what she is experiencing is limbo, where she can no longer hide from her true self. The girl then offers Sarah A a trade, she would not die of alcohol poisoning, but someone, somewhere would have never been born. Sarah deliberates for a while about the decision, but being a selfish person, eventually agrees to the deal, because she believes that she herself has great potential and would probably achieve more than this person anyway. Sarah B accepts and gets up to leave. Sarah A asks her who the person would be, to which Sarah B replies 'You, of course.' Sarah A then passes out again, leaving the audience to interpret her fate in for themselves

Primary Research 2 - Interviewing 30/09/12

For this particular research I have mange to interview a dear friend of mine named Daniel, who is an experienced young drinker who only drinks one some occasions. I have interviewed him because I want to understand how teenagers experience drinking alcohol in today’s society in which further explains how people tend to have alcohol poisoning.

Me: so Daniel how often do you drink?

Daniel: Not often, only at parties or sociably

Me: does alcohol become very addicting to you?

Daniel: no

Me: What does it taste like and also instead of yourself can alcohol become very addicting if you try more than once?

Daniel: Depends on what sort, they all have their own tastes, some sweet and some biter, as I like some drinks but dislike others

Me: Have you ever known someone who had too much?

Daniel: Yes

Me:What was their behaviour?

Daniel: Some passive and calm, sometimes loud but not known aggressive

Me: But can they affect their behaviour? Does it make them feel sick?

Daniel Yes they can and I have only known one person to be sick from drinking

Me: has it ever hurt them or?

Daniel: No

To me I believe that most people have a certain stereotype of how teenagers act towards society, from this particular interview made me realise that not all teenagers are very irresponsible and considered to be alcoholic, however from learning how alcohol causes addiction it may have an effect on some people depending on the sweetness on some alcohol they drink, in which can actually cause them to feel sick. Therefore the only occasion that most teenagers are likely to drink are being involved with parties and depending on who they socialise with.

Primary research 1 – teenagers before and now 29/09/12

For this particular research I have interview my father in which he was born in England and had been brought up more than 40 years. He has been in the process of going through secondary schools and also colleges through the 1970’s therefore my main research is about the comparison of how teenagers act towards their parents in the past and how they act towards them in today’s society.

The Question I will be asking to my father:

  • What secondary school did you use to attend to?
  • How was school like in those times?
  • How strict were the rules in the society you was brought up?
  • How did you act towards you parents considering how strict it was back in that time until now
  • What difference it is from how children act towards their parents until today’s society?
  • The changes of children behaviour in the past till present ,does it bother you how they act towards society?

I have presented my interview by producing an interview that presents all the response of my father of the question I have asked.

As you know the video isn’t very clear however I have mange to not down the summary answers that my father responded.I learnt that in the society that father was brought up it was considered to be:

  • Very strict and had a lot for teachers, also had a lot more control over children, finished at late times than in today’s society. It was very strict and fair

  • Very strict learn how to respect your elders. Not allowed to misbehave in the streets.

  • Have to respect your parents no matter the consideration is.

  • In the society that father lived they never answered their parents back. Never back chat their parents. You were given what you eat, so therefore in those times there weren’t any chicken and chips shop, how most teenagers are being given a free ride.

  • Back chat a lot, think there parents are like friends. They think they know more than their parents.
  • Children think they know more than adults which is wrong because adults have more experience and its their duty to influence and mature their children.
  • Very disgusted how children treat their parents in todays society. Its becoming worse and worse every time the politics introduces a new law.

Q and A feedback 29/09/12

As I presented my Q and A to my class, I have manage to receive positive feedbacks and also a deep emotion, in which I have manage to achieve an objective to present a character that has an effect for the audience to actually have sympathy and visualise how my character act upon people.

As I wanted to present my character as very stuck up and someone that doesn’t care or take any attention from nobody, I manage to include basic questions in which I have included with just simple answers which basically is the idea of how to present a strong character expression.

The feedback I have received:

  • It was very powerful as though it felt awkward asking her questions that relate to the past
  • Really liked the question of super powers where she responded ‘travel back in time’. Just presents a realistic answer from her.
  • Overall its just a strong impression of the character

Research table 26/09/12

Research Source
Key research findings
How is this presented on your blog?
Where will you/ How can you use this info in your film? Be as detailed as you can in your answer

Teenage drinking prediction and also additional facts
This is presented with a website called kizoa in which i have simplified each of the key facts into my own terms
I will understand the concept of how drinking is basically the most used tool for teenagers in todays society. In which alcohol rates for their specific age is increasing constantly. I can use this information to present Sarah as one of these typical teenagers who has a serious addiction and also want to visualise sarahs prediction in a future to become an alcoholic

Short documentary

Youtube is basically one of the sources i used to embed videos such as steve wilko shows and short documentary ect.
The specific videos i wanted to gather was of course presented on prezi and an individual content
From this particular research allows me to understand the behaviour of how teenagers interact with their parents and also understand how children are mostly considered to be the emotional ones because of how they are involved with their parents addiction of alcohol. However in some cases it also provide me the visualisation of how teenagers are becoming very over powered than their parents in which they have no control.

A short interview on people about a project to influence young teenagers to reduce drinking. It is also a short debate about parents being the main issue
Apparently i wasn’t able to embed the video so therefore i have inserted a link to the actually website of the guardian in order to view the video.
This source will provide an understand of how teenagers are mainly influenced through the actions performed by their parents. It provides me an understanding of how teenagers are becoming brainwashed of what they actually see in today’s society.

This is a clip presenting how divorce can be a main issue of depression, presenting multiples of predictions and also figures in which is effected in US. Technically in my opinion it can be an effect in most certain countries.
I have managed to embed the video from you tube on to my blog and add an explanation about the causes of divorce in which is an element of depression.
This provides me an understanding of how i can visualise the emotions of my character of actually having her parents divorce. I realised how divorce can produce a depressing episode through many relations especially for the couples’s child. Therefore this will provide me a visualisation of how i believe my character will react or respond after their parents being divorce, which forces her to do many torturing activities such as drinking alcohol.

Q and A Olivia 26/09/12

To be honest, I don’t care any would suit me

Secondary research 4 - Tv talk shows 26/09/12

In my own spare time, I regularly watch TV programmes such as jerry springer, maury and Steve wilko. These are talk shows in which they interview many people who have problems with their families, friends, couple situations ect. These TV shows are a great example to my research as they present the characteristics of young teenagers in today’s aspects. As my previous research presents how parents are the main issue and also children are to be blame, I wanted to see how both are mistreating each other to get an idea of how young teenagers are becoming misbehaving to their parents.

Secondary research 5 - drinking effects on women 26/09/12

As sarah is considered to be a young teenage girl, who apparently has at one point a drinking addiction,i just wanted to know the facts of how drinking alcohol can have such an effect on women than men. Therefore i have manged to gather information of how effective alcohol can cause many instinct than men.

Secondary research 3 -Divorce effection 26/09/12

Factors which contribute to the development of depression can include many situations, in which can occur within a family, friendship and also relationships. As our treatment explains the divorce of Sarah’s parents, which continues to present her depression life, I then wanted to research the effects of a divorce occurring. This will provide an assistant of how we can present an accurate facial expression of our character to make it more realistic and believable.

As one of the major forms of stress in life, divorce can be a participating event which increases the risk of developing depression. As I researched it is considered that divorced people are 6 times more likely to experience at least one major depressive episode. These results remain consistent even when accounting for a personal history of depression prior to or during the marriage.

Divorce carries a high risk of depression due to some unique features of this form of stress. It creates a disruption in one's  functioning issue of trust, companionship and security .To picture a memory where you loved someone or had a special bond ,which then suddenly fall apart watch can of course cause an empty and emotional feeling of actually missing that memory. It can also cause people to question the very nature of love, attachment, friendship, companionship and bonding. Therefore this will still bring back the memory to the individual to feel even more depressed. Doubts can lead to increased isolation and detachment, leaving the individual vulnerable to developing depression.

Overall by receiving this particular research about the effect of divorce, I understand how each couple can have some sort of a depressing moment during their separation; however the most affected victim between a couple confirming a divorce is considered to be their child. They are mostly affected and also an involvement between a divorce issue, for a child it is very difficult to continue on a path where they had a memory of happiness with their mother and father in which sudden falls down to shreds. Thus it will obviously provoke the child to change their characteristics into committing something very unusual in order to seek attention. Therefore not only divorce can become a massive depression between the couple but it can be an even more effective for the child.

I have manage to futher this particular research into watching an interesting video of how divorce can effect the characteristics of their child.Usually the video explains the facts and predictions made on the effection of child throught divorce process in the united states. However it can also have an effect in many other countries.

Secondary research 2 - Adults to be blamed on teenage behaviour? 26/09/12

For this particular secondary research I have managed to navigate the guardian news article website, presenting people’s opinions  about how parents are the main responsibility of teenage drinking.

The video explains about how the guardian sponsored a project to support the parents of influencing young teenagers to actually reduce their drinking addiction. The video is basically referred to how their project has been successful, however I have managed to receive some interesting opinions that I have learnt about the cause of teenage drinking

I understand that parents are not the problem of this topic but they are a problem of why their children are brainwashed to alcohol drinking. When an adult drink, they drink normally because they are mature, rich and also more welled experienced. It comes to a term where some parents are not strict enough or they just don’t bother not allowing their children to experience drinking. Therefore it is the parents responsibility to reduce and influence teenage drinking and also look out for them, where they usually visit such as clubs or actually hang with specific people who actually drink themself.

I also wanted to research a documentary of young children explaining their feelings and experience from their parents having a drinking addiction. This will help to understand how I can present can visualise Sarah of becoming very emotional and feels abused about this particular topic.

Secondary research 1 - Young teenage drinking 25/09/12

As Sarah is basically a young teenager who has a drinking problem according to our treatment, I decided to research several statistics and facts about young teenage drinking in today’s society.

Secondary research teenager - slideshow with music

Overall by viewing these facts and figures it clearly refreshes my understanding of how teenagers are now becoming the biggest problem in today’s society. On the other hand, it also makes me think that young teenager are not only the main concern of why these rates are increasing significantly over the past years, the main concerns is how their parents are influencing and performing a good role to supervise their children into being a more sensible and performing mature commitment. Therefore my next research will present a documentary of how parents are basically the main issue of how teenagers are becoming what they are in today’s world.

Primary/Secondary research Introduction 24/09/12

From developing multiples of treatment ,in which further leads to progressing on our final treatment that me and karis decided, we believe that in order to present an accurate impression of our main character and her background story, it is compulsory for us to research these topics in which happens in today’s society. Her background story involves with her having drinking problems, parents being divorced and also her being a typical teenager who apparently has a limbo. Therefore we have to research these specific topics from primary research and also secondary research to develop our understanding of how we can present an accurate impression of our character. This will provide us the visualisation of how we can include effective facial expression of our character and also understand how we should present our character to make the audience expect realism and creative to watch.
As explaining the premise and the treatment of our story, I understand the research which needs to be accomplished.
The research in which I am going to undertake to develop my understanding is to:
·         Research statistics of young teenagers who drink
·         Research several opinions from news reports about parents being a main issue of teenage behaviour
·         Watch TV talk shows to visualise how teenagers act towards their parents
·         Interviewing specific people such as policemen and experienced drinkers
·         Watch documentary
·         The effects of teenagers when their parents are divorced
·         The effection of being divorced
·         Research the statistics of teenage rehab
·         Researching people who have an affection of limbo
·         Interview people that I know who used to be in a situation where their parents were separated.

Just to notify, the primary research would consider being time consuming as I have to try and meet people in order to interview their opinions and also their experience.

Updated Moodboard 25/09/12

After producing my first moodboard i then realise that it was too much information and just dull to present therefore i have created a new moodboard. In which will only include images that relates to my vision of the films cinematography and also words which indicates the story treatment. Therefore instead of using Kizoa i used Prezi, which is a suitable site which i can present my creativity.

Practise Mood board 24/09/12

After concluding my final decision of my treatment, I further proceeded into making a mood board draft. Producing a draft will help me to develop ideas of how I would structure my cinematography of my short film therefore the mood board will only include and explain the background story of Sarah and also present how I visualise the look of where she is at present (a drunk teenage girl).

I have used kizoa as a presentational device of my mood board draft. I have manage to use some pictures that I have taken and also used some pictures from the internet just to present a rough idea of what I want my scenes to look.

Treatment 3 - Life swap 23/09/12

The film opens with the main character a girl of about 14 named Sarah stumbling up the stairs and into her room drunk, with the sound of her mother shouting her dissaproval at her daughter's behaviour still echoing up the stairs. Sarah falls onto her bed and immediately passes out. As she come back around, she sees a girl around the same age as her sat at the end of her bed staring at her. Sarah, as expected, first begins screaming for help and when she realises no-one's coming, begins to question the girl (e.g. 'Who are you? How did you get in here?'), to which she is answered with silence. The girl then explains that Sarah is in fact still unconscious but is about to die of alcohol poisoning, and that what she is experiencing is limbo. The girl then offers Sarah a trade, she would be would not die of alcohol poisoning, but someone somewhere in the world would have never been born. Sarah deliberates for a while about the decision, but being a selfish person, eventually agrees to the deal, because she believes that she herself has great potential and would probably achieve more than this person anyway. The girl accepts and gets up to leave. Sarah asks the girl who the person would be, to which the girl replies 'You, of course.' Sarah then passes out again, at which point the viewer can assume she is in fact dead.

This idea is kind of inspired by a show that used to be on when I was a kid called Are You Afraid of the Dark, where there would be these short-films with a supernatural undertone and a cautionary tale behind it.

Treatment 2/3 - Behind close doors/ life swap feedback 24/09/12

After producing treatment 2 and 3 we then received more feedbacks from our colleagues. This will then further our instincts to understand what we need to change and also how would we be able to improve our fully discussed treatment into a final decision. From many attempts of treatments that me and my partner created ,we then wanted to receive a final decision that our colleagues believes what’s best for us.

Feedback of Treatment 2

Our colleague quoted that it was very ‘impressive’ from our previous treatment since its very simplistic to according to the shooting, where there is only 2 or 3 actors hired and only one location. However they mentioned that with my idea of using the drugs as a twist didn’t suit the idea of the whole story and also the words appearing, they did believe it is very creative but doesn’t match the idea of what we are trying to present. With the words appearing it wouldn’t make any sense since Sam doesn’t know or doesn’t have any affection with the words, so therefore it has to effect Sam noticing through his facial expression. It is also considered to be too big for a short film and can come across a lot of big issues e.g. shooting in the park can come across a risk of the weather ,corruption the equipment and camera ect.Overall our colleague mentioned that we should focus on the eating disorder twist idea instead of the drugs, because it creates an unexpected moment very controversial and something that doesn’t expand our short film very long.

From receiving the feedback I understand the concept of how a treatment is not about solving a problem but its solving the creativity of how a simple premise of a film should look, meaning that the cinematography is the key element of gaining high expectation of engaging the audience. Therefore I will try and attempt to produce a simple premise of a film in which can be used to present a marvellous creativity with an unexpected moment.

Feedback of treatment 3

The feedback that we received of this treatment considered to be the best out of the three. It is very simple to understand where a young girl has a drinking problem and starts to visualise a ghost. The location isn’t complex since it has to be done in a bedroom, however the cinematography of the film must be very effective even though it doesn’t require a lot of actors, scenes and props. The shooting of the film must be effective including the lighting, costumes and the editing .Overall it’s a more improved idea that me and karis came up with but we must focus on the main problems that may come across if we actually shoot the treatment of this story idea.

After producing multiples of treatment and gathering feedbacks, I and Karis then made our own decision to actually keep and to further proceed with treatment 3 because it is considered to be easy and interesting. With a young girl having to full pout to be drunk, any type of scenario case can happen and can be presented with such an improved cinematography. Therefore this will allow me to analyse how the cinematography will look and visualised as something creative and a more thriller look, that gathers a new idea from originality and it’s something new to expect a great experience of researching our clause of the treatment.

Treatment 2 - Behind close doors 23/09/12

After the feeedback that me and karis recieved about our previous treatment,we then decided that we should move on to produce a new treatment with a completly new idea.

We have accomplsihed dicussing our opinions during the weekend using facebook. We used facebook as a benefit to share our ideas and actually present our made up treatments in which we both improved.

The images below present print screens of the communication of me and karis on facebook.
(Print screen insert)

Karis managed to produce a treatment ,in which she had sent me about a young boy who has a dream of becoming the best football player,it then presents the intention where the boy has an eating disorder. The print screen presents karis's treeatment however,in my own spare time i have made a few changes in whihc i believe seemed very interesting. (print screen)

Treatment

Sam is a 13 year old boy who lives a normal life and appears to be happy and healthy. However, as the film progresses we see he is put under a lot of pressure to be perfect in different aspects of his life, such as being the best football player in the world, he is considered to be a show off in which annoys everyone in their inner self, from every polite comments their Colleague appears a word in which they say in their own thought (harsh words appearing). He becomes noticeably more stressed and irritable as the film reaches its end – at which point the viewer would probably put his behaviour down to being a typical teenager. The twist in the end of the plot would be that Sam comes home and as soon he is about to take a sip of his soup, he has a sudden flashback in which presents him vomiting and munching down food continuously. After the flashback presents him about to open a container in which says speed considering that he takes drugs in order to accomplish his football dream.

Treatment 1 - chatterbox 17/09/12

As me and karis developed our story ideas, we then began to produce our first treatment. This is considered to be a practical, since we will gather feedbacks and improvement that is need to be completed.

 Premise-

A young girl who is lonely and allows a chatterbox to make decisions for her

Treatment

Emma is a girl who at the age of 13 has already become jaded with her mundane everyday life. One word comes to her mind if she ever needs to describe herself; average. She has always wished she could be one of those girls she sees walking through the hallways at school with groups of friends around them, all laughing at a joke she isn't a part of. Ever since she can remember she has always felt like a supporting character in her own life, never quite able to step out from the background into the spotlight. She doesn't even blame her classmates for leaving her out because she knows the only thing holding her back is herself. She just can't seem to get over feeling shy all the time. She would even settle for one friend, but instead only has her pet hamster, Henry, for company. One Friday night which, as usual, she spends talking to Henry and watching any documentary she can find, Henry suddenly leads her to a genius idea. As a pet, Henry never needs to decide anything for himself. Just as Henry relies solely on Emma to provide food, shelter and activities – why couldn't she to put her fate somewhere other than her own hands too? She has always had a keen analytical mind, so it makes sense for her to rely on something solid and concrete. Like probability! That way she could give herself a list of reactions to possible situations and let chance decide what she did next. After all, why would she need to be shy when she isn’t the one making the decisions in the first place? So it was decided, and armed with her list and a coordinated chatterbox, she faces everyday problems with a new solution. She feels confident and free. But she can't quite shake the feeling that by not having any input into her actions, she is doing herself more harm than good

Feedback

After producing our first treatment, felt the experience of how treatment does take a long process to reach the final decisions, I understand how a treatment is basically a concept of how accurate it must be and also very simplistic to show a creative presentation to an audience. Me and my partner karis then shared our treatment within our colleagues to receive full feedback and review.

Our colleague mentioned that our creativity was a great idea to include a prop such as the chatterbox. However it seemed that it could consider a very difficult process of actually shooting their scenes in which seemed very long and complicated. They liked the concept where the girl leads her life by using a chatterbox and allowing it to provide social decisions, which is something that has never been used and does represent a new interesting idea.

The main general idea about the teenage girl having mental problems or being lonely is presumed to be a bit clichéd. Therefore I also agree with the terms and will be taking this feedback as a record to analyse, where we can improve our practical treatment into its higher standards.Im going to think and develop more ideas outside the box and understand the concept of how a film really interests the audience with creativity used. This will lead to a lot of research through short films and also need to focus on how we can execute the timing of the treatment, considering that it mustn’t be too long or too short to actually shoot the treatment.

Even though this is considered to be our first practical treatment, it was a very good atte3mot and also and easier step towards building our experience of producing an effective treatment. I understand how it can lead to many problems, in which needs to be solved and improved to make it seem more interesting to engage our audience. Therefore I believe that me and my partner needs to still cooperate efficiently in order accomplish our goals for our A2 project.

Treatment Practise 1 - smiley tears 18/09/12

Jill is a young, shy and timid teenage girl who is a student of Joseph elementary school. She always has the intention of being more independent and not able to interact with everyone in her school, therefore she is known as a loner.

The scene begins with a depressing tone of piano music presenting Jill multiple of shots of Jill dressing, eating and getting ready to school as she leaves her house, to visit her school. She feels very depressed and scared of visiting her school, she is very humble as she travels by using the bus, she doesn’t give any eye contact to anyone, adults seemed very concerned about her because of her humbleness, and she only keeps her head down and stays silent.

As she reaches her destination which is near her school, she then travels by walking by herself without interacting with any teenagers, instead it presents her point of view as she walks past with every teenager that glares at her as she walked past them and keeps her head down as usual. She only looks up for a split second then quickly looks down.

She attends to her next lesson sitting down on a table to her self keeping her hands and objects very close to her. We are then presented with a group of young girls who are sitting the opposite table all together and whispering to each other. The group of young girls are gossiping and also giggling which suddenly single words starts to appear and begins to tease Jill in many actions such as shoving her pencil case and also pulling her chair, it then constantly teases Jill in many other actions.

The school bell rings as it symbolise that it is lunch time for the school students. Jill is walking by herself yet again in corridors which presents a point of view of her seeing the group of young girls all starring at her and continuing to gossip. The gossip then begins to increase with such as high tone of music and the abusive words begins to appear. As they appear the words abuses Jill in abusive and violent format by pushing her to the wall, tripping her over constantly. The cuts a scene begins to increase as words are being dashed at her at a fast paced until she receives her limit of where she actually runs.

As she runs the group of girls are laughing until one member shouts out for the girl by screaming ‘I hope you  ’ The word appears as a point of view chasing the young girl as she runs and then finally tags her until she turns around and gets run over.

Watching short films 17/09/12

Gone goodbye

The short film was very interesting the way the voice over covers the whole scenes of the man driving through a long rainforest. It presents how he is fading away from his past by traveling.I also liked the background music in which suited the scene as very depressing and also mathced with the tone of the voice over. The setting of the short film seem very fantasy like and just a great area to present a scene of someone who has lost someone that was close to them. The scene presented an empty feeling for the man.

The story provided me to have the intention to know where the man was going to,of course the first part that i really wanted to questionned is what is going?

The character seem very humble and depressed however i really like the way he has the regret of all the past he shared with his close one because it represent him as very caring and also thoughtful.I liked the way the person visited to an unkown empty area to relax and to free their mind from any stress.

The cinematography in the short film was fantastic the way thre first portion attracted the audience to seek more refuge of where the film leads to at the end.The camera angle was very effective at the beggining showing as birds eye view. The way they used the presentation of the balloon to symbolise the mans wife was very effective especially the way the balloon popped actually provdided me a surprise and also presents how her wife is basicvally vanished. The most important technique i liked was when the baloon popped the letter that the man was covering the voice over was actually the dialogue that he first spoke over with.

The elevator

The short film was absolutley hilarious, just amazing of how they put a basic story into a great short comedy. The film was very funny of how the situation was constantly getting worse. The elevator music was just hilarious of how every floor it stopped the music starts, which just creates an annoying mood for the man who is waiting in the elevator. It provides some sympathy for the poor man who is tapped in a serious situation where he may of died because of the weight capactity of the elevator. However you then realise that he is very paranoid and actually manages to escape a serious situation but yet again gets involved with the worse of all.

Overall the story attracted me with their presentation of comedy,in which provides you the intention of how does the man escapes the situation and how does he feel being in that situation consider that its very hilarious of people react if they were in that particular incident.

the character seemed very moody and also paranoid, what i liked was the paranoia that he had of actually calculating the weight capacity of the elevator. The man is very generous of actually keeping his harsh comments to himself but manages to escape but still has the patience while entering the elevator full of swine flu.

The cinematography of the short film seemed very basic but was used in a more complex way of representing comdey. The camera shots was basic but very effeicent at use and also the editing of presenting the fat man as a massive danger was very hilarious. Therefore the short film manage to present a person in an elevator but adding a situation in which could happen however with the additional aspect of comedy.

Initial ideas plus 17/09/12

After developing my story ideas with my partner karis, we then further proceeded to the next step of our idea development and began to summarise our film.

Our story idea is about a girl who is young, idependent, bizare and also a victim of being bullied at school. She is considered to be weird because she uses a chatterbox to decide what she does in her social life. The story begins with a voice over explaining her background image presenting her as very lonley and also very thoughtful. As she constanly uses the chatterbox by listing the things that comes to her mind ,she allows the chatterbox to randomise her own decision for her.As we know she gets bullied at school everytime she makes the chatterbox to provide a decision for her. Therefore the chatterbox provides a decision to confront the bully to overcome her shyness and also to accomplish being very confident and true to her innerself.

The story types that our intial ideas belong to is the rites of passage Rob reneir like of a story in which a character recongnises their next age of their life and attempts to learn what they need to know and also accomplish their weakness.

Feedback

I have manage to recieve various of feedback from a collegue to ask some questiopns about my story idea and also to confirm their interest about my story idea. They asked me of what type of story would it reffer to as i explained above it belongs to the rites of passage.Apart from that the story seemed very interesting because of the way the chatterbox is something new that is used to present someones character as being awkward and weird.I also explained to the collegue of how i would visiualise my film and also what type of editing i would use, therefore i showed an advert that provided me a suitable idea of how i would consider my film to look.

Initial ideas

From our wacky stories that we have chosen and researched over the summer holidays, I shared my wacky stories with my partner karis and summarised the main concept of each story.

I have noted down the summary of karis’s wacky stories and gathered the genres that her stories are related to.

Karis’s stories include:

  • Involvement of bullying (corruption)
  • Thriller combined with comedy
  • Involving with multiples of emotions

After we identified the genres and themes that belongs to our wacky stories we then
produced a mind map, to gather ideas of various of themes that both of our stories have some similarities.

Our mind map made us realise that we did have some similarities in our wacky stories and also provided us a great idea of noting down how we visualise our film.

We further proceeded by categorising our interests and then discussed small aspects of various films that we desire to include.

Finally we then shared our ideas with the other groups and finally discussed of what type of story suited for our ideas, in which we gathered many names but only chosen one which is called Smiley tears.

Summer work - interesting objects

Over the summer holidays I have been collecting objects that relates to the category of my own memory/history

This seemed very interesting to me because I usually enjoy thinking about my past of all the good activities and enjoyment I had in my life and also believe that history is a great presentation of someone’s background image. History can effect peoples emotions of how they miss their past.

Baby picture: Represent my own memory when I was a toddler and also represent how immature and all the great childhood memories I use to have

Game: Relates to the enjoyment i had in the past with friends, families and also myslef.Since i never had the chance to play games in my life its sometimes depressing since i have alot of schedule events therefore for myself it presents a depression for my innerself.

Topi: an object which I wear while praying (religion Islam)]

This represent the history off how I always preach my own religion since it’s a massive part of my inner self and i always think about the good deeds I've performed from thye past and also religious events that i always celebrate and perform such as Ramadan and eid.

Karate belt: Represents the activities I have performed for 5 years and also represent the history of how I developed my own knowledge of confidence and discipline.

Education: The image presents the books that I use to study from primary and secondary school in which provided me an interesting flashback of how education was so simple until education became very complex as my knowledge began to enhance.

The two image presents my old GCSE english class in brampton manor in which holds the memory of  the friends and teachers that I used to communicate and interact with back in secondary school and I usually miss the relationship I had with them.

Overall the reason why I have collected items that relates to the category of history/memory is because its presentation is very popular in many opening sequence of films presenting the main characters history of how they were born and developed to their present stage. History always comes in mixture of other genres such as conflict, tragedy, love ect. In my opinion history is an interesting element that everyone desires to think about in their lives and always wish to go back in time and feel the enjoyment they had in previous years therefore history has always become a magnificent and emotional category that has an effect on everyone.
