Introduction
By almost completing our film project, it was compulsory for me to produce a film magazine by including a film review page. Before accomplishing these criteria I had to analyse several magazine front covers in order to get an general idea of how to produce a cover that will appeal audiences to actually navigate through the magazine. Furthermore, I then had to research several film review pages which I have done from online in which I had to annotate how they accomplished of explaining every feature of the film and how they present their responses and personal opinions about the film.
Film front cover
Empire
The first magazine I have analysed is called the empire. The empire is a film magazine in which specialises of presenting film reviews and previews of films belonging to the content of horror, adventure and action aspects.
(Empire is a British film magazine published monthly by Bauer Consumer Media. From the first issue in July 1989, the magazine was edited by Barry McIlheney and published by Emap)
1st magazine – front cover
This is the first Empire magazine that I have collected and as you can se iu have identified the creativity used in the front cover.
(The issue was made in August 2008)

I have also managed to collect another empire magazine, however an interesting element about the front cover of this magazine is that it has a 3-d image conver.Instead of including all the splash, barcode, several headings I have realised that if a film magazine is usually known world wide then wit would consider for them to include a lot of Images and devices but to include a different technique that can still appeal audiences.
(This is the issue of December 2012)
As you can see the picture looks very blurry however as explained the reason why it is is because the front cover is 3-d.

A different film magazine that I have managed to collect was called total film.Total Film is a British film magazine published 13 times a year (every four weeks) by Future Publishing. The magazine was launched in 1997 and offers film, DVD and Blu-ray news, reviews and features

As you can see the front cover of the issue magazine of December 2012 has many creative devices used to appeal a large mass of audiences.
total film on Prezi
By navigating through the magazine of total film, I have managed to identify the methods they use to review a film. The way they review a film is considered to be very different of how other magazine review their film, in which they review in a long process explaining their film distribution information, plot of the film and ending the review with a verdict. However by viewing this review page of the films I have learnt that reviewing a film can also take into a short process by just showing the age of the film, specific date and a short summary of their review.

final review on Prezi
In addition for the review section, I have learnt that the language must be strong to its personal opinion, considering to be very believable and something that is very social able to an audience point of view aspects.
I have managed ton research well known magazines by annotating their review pages and understand the concept of how they provide a specific feedback and review accurately on the films features and plots of their story.
However as my film is considered to be a short film I believe that by realistically researching independent film magazine would be a better solution. This is because, they not widely known to total film and empire and according to those magazine they only review most popular films such as avatar, transformers ect therefore it wouldn’t suit the idea of including my film review to any of those magazines.
In addition, I have managed to annotate two film magazines which are filmmaker and gorilla films.
In Conclusion, by viewing all the front covers of the magazines alongside with the review pages. I have learnt that in order to exceed an objective to gain attraction from audiences is to make the front cover seem very creative and professional. Devices such as font and colours must be used efficiently as well as the use of images. Slogan and additional opinions must be used a strong impression to make the audience to believe. Overall before producing my own review page I have realised that I must include:
- Name of film first in addition to the ratings being given so the audience will want to know why it has been given hat specific rating
- Date of the film
- Age rating
- casts
- Plot
- Full descriptive review
- Verdict
- Explanation of why the rating has been given
I have managed ton research well known magazines by annotating their review pages and understand the concept of how they provide a specific feedback and review accurately on the films features and plots of their story.
Overall by deciding in the future of what magazine article I will send my film review page to. I would prefer to send it to the Film maker magazine. This is because Film maker manages to promote every short films into its higher standards and by using strong impressive words indicates how every films is their recommendable choice for viewers to watch. In comparison to gorilla films,by analyzing their review page it does in the positive side, seem very professional on how they view the films aspects and also how they manage to not at least include bias opinions, instead they are very certain and honest of every comment they include. However in my vision of viewing the gorilla magazine its just too formal and too much use of text. Not only i desire of using expressive words to promote a film review but i do desire of at-least including an evidence of the films best features such as including various of print screens of scenes. Also gorilla film magazine only review specific formal films in which film maker is known as being professional of analyzing thriller films. Therefore I believe that through the research of the two independent magazine ,Filmmaker is a recommendable choice to publish a film review.
