The fall

What I have accomplished in this particular research task is that I have manage to understand the creativity that are used in films  I watched a film named ‘The fall’ in which sets out a brilliant example that presents a story that is very different and creative in many devices that are used.

                                                             The plot of the story
In a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient, a little girl with a broken arm, a fantastical story about 5 mythical heroes. Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination, the line between fiction and reality starts to blur as the tale advances.

                                                       Facts about The fall
Here are several facts in which I have researched online about the film and also while watching the actual film

  • CGI was never used in the film in which the location over 20 countries, including India, Indonesia (Bali), Italy, France, Spain, Namibia, China (PRC), and numerous others
  • They used a amateur 6 year old actress
  • The film appeared on a couple of critics' top ten lists of the best films of 2008
  • They manage to have the gross sales over $$2,280,348 (USA) (3 January 2009)
  • The movie is inspired by the Bulgarian movie Yo ho ho.
  • The director claims that there are no special effects in the film despite its surreal looks. Everything was shot on real locations.
  • The horses used by the Bandit and his crew in many scenes are of the Marwari breed, native only to the deserts of India
  • Singh shot the hospital scenes with Catinca Untaru in chronological order. As filming progressed over the course of six weeks, she grew taller and her English improved, like her character would have in real life.
  • Jeetu Verma who is Indian owned most of the horses that was used in the film which further explains that he owned a stable in Mumbai.

My review of ‘The fall’

In my personal opinion I thought that the film was tremendous and very creative in the way they set out each location for example the location that was set in Egypt was the most effective one in my opinion because it presented an ancient look and what I found very interesting is where the film presented there blue houses which I thought was very magnificent and delicate. The film was very unusual at first since I didn’t understand the plot of the story however I manage to keep up with the film through the process of ‘story telling’ in which imaginations was used from the girl as she used the same characters that resembles the 5 mystic heroes which suited the job. It was very emotional of how Roy was very depressed from the situation he come across to however the way the story he plotted was a great experience of presenting a film that actually has creativity and potential. Apart from that category the soundtrack was very decent and amazing from various scenes and also the costumes that were used was fantastic and actually seemed we were watching the action in those ancient times. Therefore the fall is a fall in which is most recommendable to watch but from the research I have developed from this concept I know understand how its not all about the plot of the story but its about including the components that makes the story very effective and interesting.

Tick Tock

For developing some skills and preparation to plan my short film i researched sveral clips on youtube that seemed very interesting i chosed one short film called Tick tock and what in liked about this film is that is uses a variety of editing that was nsomething different, the music was used effectively and also the shots was very creative. What would you do if you had only five minutes to live? Trace a young man's few minutes of trying to fulfill his life's highest potential.

  1. The first shot of the clock seem very bizare as it was going backwards
  2. I liked the soyund as though the tone was decreasing and echoing
  3. everything seemed to be going backwards
  4. When the person was running it was like a flashback but following the process of where it comes down to
  5. The way we are following through the film gets a bizare and awkward feeling

Contrast

For developing my research on how to produce an effective film for my media project we had to focus on other key terms that is compulsory to include to our film.Contrast is the key term that is used in many creative films to present a magnificant image to the audience therefore i have used the website kizoa to present my knowledge about the contrast that is used in photgraphy.

Short story practise

My practising to develop my creative skills i teamedm up with  a pertner and thought of a short story that seemed very interesting. There were two tasked that we had to do which we had to create a pitch which leads to take various of shots which would come an involvment with our story and something that is creative and relevant.

Pitch

Set in the twentieth century highlights natural events which occur normally. Death is an integral part of people's lives leaving many emotional and psychological effects. The young ambitious Shivonne suddenly turns destructive after the death of her little brother. Because of this, it changes her mentality having an effect on her attitudes of things and people close to her. How will she take the news? What is she planning next? The story begins to unravel.

As you can see below presents the slideshow including the images i took that was relevant for my short story.

Creative shots

For our media project we have to produce a 5 minute film with effective and creative shots that can obviously become a great intention for the audience to watch. Therefore for developing our research i took various of shots of what i see daily and it cannot be any other shots it had to create something that looks like another image. As you can see i used the website Kizoa to of course present the images i took and what other objects it may linked to using my own creativity.
